I think I may be going mad.

In an effort to keep my mind off things, I thought I’d get started on some of the books I’d gotten for my birthday. It’s mum’s day off, which means she can't just leave me alone; so she said I should be studying; annoying, but I thought I’d go back to Charms, get started on next term. Well, mum is mental and suddenly insisted I should be helping out around the house. Not just regular cleaning, but deep cleaning that requires loads of scrubbing and that takes like 15 hours to complete. And apparently it needed to be done in two hours. Honestly, I do not understand the need to have the place completely spotless when family isn’t even coming over for a couple of weeks. It’s not even Christmas yet!

Which, of course, resulted in a massive row; loads of screaming and me wishing I could bloody well move out already.

So, in a fit of irritation, I decided to start looking at flats near Diagon Alley, and in all honesty, I almost had a heart attack. Well over 200 Galleons a month to let a studio! Unless I’m calculating it wrong, that’s completely ridiculous. Never mind how much a 1 bed flat must be; and when you consider the deposit has got to be massive; it’s a wonder anyone can move before they’re 30! Or you’ve got half a dozen flatmates. I’m sure you could let a five-bedroom house around here for that. Just as well, I rather like it up North, thanks.


I still want to move though.

I hope everyone made it home okay last night.

Michael and I are fine, apparated to mine from the Three Broomsticks last night; I'm surprised we made it actually considering everything that was imbibed. He's just gone home, following mum practically forcing a full English down him. On the bright side, she's at least a better cook than I am.

This may be my first birthday I’ve actually had a bit of a break. I finished my Charms essay last week, and was working on Potions until Monday, then completed Arithmancy yesterday so I wouldn’t have to worry about anything today. I wouldn’t normally, but mum’s been insisting that I’m just pushing myself too hard, and I suppose one day off won’t be too bad. Still, I wish we could take our exams earlier. I’ve been revising the material since late May – Merlin knows those two months of being under house arrest left me with no other option - I swear I could do half of the things blindfolded by now. That’s not to say I don’t wish to cover the material, nor understand it better afterall I want to understand not just memorise, but I would also like to get started on my healing training, and somehow it just feels like I’m stagnating at the moment.

It would be nice if we had January's reading assignments though, as I could certainly use the time now to get started on them. The snow storms here in the north have been making it quite difficult to get anywhere without flooing, and really there's nothing better than having a bit of reading in front of the fire when it gets cold out.

Oh, Mikey, mum says we’ll be having supper around 6; though feel free to come early. I’m sure I could use the break. Have you heard from the boys yet?

Still! Auntie Nic's given me two tickets to the Harpies' first game in January, and I have to admit I'm really quite excited! Jones' is bloody broilliant, but then the whole teams really great to watch. They're playing Montrose as well, which should make for an amazing match.

Hello?
It’s rather odd this, writing in a journal with the expectation that someone could read and respond to anything I say. I can’t see many people responding, but I take it the lads have one? At least Mikey does. To be honest, wouldn’t really think to get one myself, but it was an early birthday present from Ana, so I thought I may as well give it a chance. I suppose I shouldn't really be using it yet, but it's only 2 days away, so that's all right, isn't it?

Still, I imagine this will be easier than sitting around waiting for certain people to respond to owls. I suppose there's also the capability of markling things private, but I dunno, can you ever really trust the charms to hold?

Right, best rush off; was intending to head to the library before noon, Merlin knows the essay won’t wait.
